New Delhi: The Indian team is out of the Hockey World Cup 2023. The match between India and New Zealand was played on 22 January at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. In this match, India lost 4-5 in the shoot-out to New Zealand. With the loss of this match, the Indian team’s World Cup journey ended.
Let us tell you that in the year 1975, India captured the Hockey World Cup for the last and only time. Not just hockey, New Zealand has beaten India many times in cricket as well.

Talking about the hockey match, this was the seventh match played between India and New Zealand. Earlier, India won three and Kiwi team won two matches. During this, New Zealand defeated India by a margin of 2-1 in the 1986 and 2002 World Cups. At the same time, India managed to win twice in the 1998 World Cup and on one occasion against the Kiwis in the 1982 World Cup. Whereas in the 1973 World Cup, the match of both the teams was equal to 1-1.
