In these series, New Zealand Cricket has included promising Finn Allen in place of Guptill. At the same time, Trent Boult has already refused to sign an annual deal.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said that it was a big decision not to include Boult and Guptill in the team. But the door is still open for the pair to return to the international stage. “When Trent opted out of his NZC contract in August, we indicated that priority would be given to players who have central or domestic contracts, and that’s what happened here,” he said.
