Chittagong: Bangladesh included top-order batsman Zakir Hasan in the squad for the first time for the first Test against India starting on 14 December. The decision to include Hasan in the squad has been taken due to veteran Tamim Iqbal not recovering from a groin injury. Hasan was named Player of the Match in the first unofficial Test against India A and was the highest run-scorer in the first-class competition.
Bangladesh Cricket Board selector Minhajul Abedin told ‘Cricbuzz’, “Our physio said that he (Tamim) will not be able to play the first Test.” But we are waiting for his medical report for the second test. That’s why we have announced the squad for the opening Test only.”
