New Delhi: Experienced left-arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has been included in the Indian team for the two-Test series against Bangladesh (India vs Bangladesh Test Series) in place of injured Mohammed Shami. Unadkat recently played a key role in helping Saurashtra win the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He is currently in Rajkot awaiting completion of visa related formalities. He will then join the team in Chattogram.
Sources in the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) confirmed this to PTI. Shami was ruled out of the series due to a hand injury. Thirty-one-year-old Jaydev Unadkat played his only Test match in 2010 against South Africa at Centurion. After this, he played seven One Day Internationals and 10 T20 Internationals for India.

Saurashtra captain Unadkat was the highest wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He took 19 wickets in 10 matches. Unadkat has so far played 96 first-class matches in which he has taken 353 wickets. The Indian team is currently struggling with the problem of injured players. Apart from Shami, skipper Rohit Sharma and fast bowlers Kuldeep Sen and Deepak Chahar were also ruled out of the ODI series due to injuries. (agency)
