IND vs BAN 1st ODI | Team India in trouble after defeat against Bangladesh, fined 80 percent

Mirpur: Indian players were fined 80 per cent of their match fees for slow over-rate in the first ODI against Bangladesh here on Sunday. India lost the first match of the three-match series by one wicket. International Cricket Council (ICC) panel match referee Ranjan Madugalle imposed the penalty as India fell four overs short in the stipulated time.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel relating to slow over rate, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fee per over for not completing an over in the stipulated time.

According to the ICC statement, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has accepted the fine and hence there was no need for further hearing in the matter. On-field umpires Michael Gough and Tanveer Ahmed, third umpire Sharfuddoulah Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Ghazi Sohail leveled the charges against the Indian team for slow over-rate. The second ODI between the two teams will be played on Wednesday.
