    Imran Khan | Pakistan: Case registered against former PM Imran Khan in banned funding case

    New Delhi: The Federal Investigation Agency has arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, the party’s financial team and the manager of a private bank in the banned funding case. A case has been registered against the leaders. Reported to Pakistani media.

    According to the Pakistani newspaper, the case was registered by the state through the FIA’s corporate banking circle in Islamabad. The FIR stated that Arif Masood Naqvi, owner of Wootton Cricket Limited, had “wrongly” transferred money to a United Bank Limited (UBL) account registered in the name of PTI.

    Besides Imran Khan, PTI leader Senator Saifullah Niazi, Sardar Tariq, Syed Yunus, Amir Kayani, Tariq Shafi and members of the party’s financial team and manager of a private bank have been named in the complaint filed.

    Significantly, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had announced the decision of PTI to receive illegal funds. Following which the FIA ​​began its investigation into party funds in August 2022. The FIA ​​recently received approval from the Federal Interior Ministry to file cases of fraud and failure to disclose foreign cash transactions against party leaders.

    The agency has sought permission from the federal interior ministry to register a case against Imran Khan and other PTI members under sections 420, 406, 468 and 471A of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
