Jammu Kashmir: Two Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists killed in an encounter in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have been identified. The police gave this information on Saturday. On the basis of intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in Yedipora village, the police, army and SSB started a joint cordon and search operation on Friday.
Both the terrorists were involved in criminal cases
Police said the slain terrorists have been identified as Yawar Shafi Bhat, a resident of Kalampora in Pulwama and Amir Hussain Bhat, a resident of Veshro, Shopian. As per police records, both were in the ranks of terrorists and had recently joined terrorist ranks. Both were involved in criminal cases. These include attacks on police, security forces and civilians.
Arms and ammunition recovered from encounter site
“Preliminary investigation and intelligence based inputs revealed that the slain terrorists were tasked to attack the ongoing Army recruitment rally ‘Agniveer’ in Baramulla,” the police said. Incriminating material, arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Significantly, Amit Shah is going to visit Jammu and Kashmir. Ahead of his visit, two empty buses had also exploded recently. Terrorist conspiracy behind this blast is not being ruled out. Its investigation is going on fast. In order to maintain peace and security in the valley, continuous search operations are being conducted by the security forces.
Amit Shah two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from October 4
Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir on October 4 on a two-day visit. During this he will address two public meetings and offer prayers at Mata Vaishno Devi temple. On the first day of the tour, Shah will address a public meeting in Rajouri in the morning after offering prayers at the Mata Vaishno Devi temple located on Trikuta hills of Reasi district and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects. The Union Home Minister will review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in a meeting to be held at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on October 5.
