Australia’s Tahlia McGrath has become the number one batsman in the world after her stellar performance in the opening two matches of the ongoing series against India. The 27-year-old Tahlia, who scored 40 and 70, became only Australia’s second batsman and 12th overall to top the women’s T20I rankings, according to the ICC. She jumped three places to beat compatriots Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney as well as Smriti.

Earlier in 2010, West Indies’ Stafanie Taylor became the world’s number one batsman after playing just 15 matches. India opener Shafali Verma took the shortest time to reach the top in recent years. Shefali achieved this feat in 18 matches.

India’s Shafali and Jemimah Rodrigues also figure in the top 10 in the list of T20 International batsmen. Jemima has gained one place and is at the sixth position. In the T20 International rankings for bowlers, India’s Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh Thakur remained static at the third and fourth spots respectively.
