    ICC Hall of Fame | Qadir, Chanderpaul and Edwards inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

    Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Pakistan’s legendary spinner Abdul Qadir, West Indies’ top batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and England’s Women’s World Cup winning captain Charlotte Edwards. Inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. All three were inducted into the Hall of Fame after a voting process.

    The voting process is attended by current players inducted into the Hall of Fame, media representatives and senior executives from the Cricketers’ Association (FICA) and ICC. Qadir was known as the magician of leg spin. He passed away three years ago. In his career, he took 236 and 132 wickets in 67 Tests and 104 ODIs respectively. Among the batsmen who scored the most runs in Test cricket, the eighth-ranked Chanderpaul holds the record for scoring half-centuries in seven consecutive Test innings.

    Chanderpaul, who played 164 Tests and 268 ODIs for the West Indies, said, “I want to enjoy this moment with my family, friends and most importantly the fans in West Indies and around the world.”

    In her career spanning two decades, Edwards won the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2009 and the T20 World Cup in the same year. He retired from international cricket in 2016.

    “I have enjoyed every moment in my international career and am very happy to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” he said. The trio will be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame ahead of the semi-final match of the T20 World Cup between New Zealand and Pakistan in Sydney.(Agency)
