New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee took the second hat-trick of his T20 International career during the second match of the three-match series against India on Sunday. The right-handed batsman took a hat-trick off the third, fourth and fifth balls in the final over of the first innings in the second T20 International of the series. Southee’s wickets included Hardik Pandya, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar. The hat-trick helped Southee finish with figures of 3-34 from four overs. Southee also took a hat-trick against Pakistan in Auckland in 2010.
Meanwhile, the star of India’s batting was Suryakumar Yadav, who scored a memorable century for his side. He scored an unbeaten 111 runs in just 51 balls with the help of 11 fours and seven sixes. He said, ‘A century is really special in T20 cricket, but it was also important for me to bat till the end. We needed 190-195 and glad we got there. We had a point in the 16th over that we wanted to take it deep and only Hooda and Washington would follow. “I am doing the same thing in the nets and in all the practice sessions.
It is known that heavy rain in Wellington canceled the first T20 match between New Zealand and India without the ball being bowled on Friday. The third match of the series is in Napier on 22 November. India have rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the New Zealand tour, while head coach Rahul Dravid also sat out, with VVS Laxman, head of India’s National Cricket Academy, in charge. All-rounder Hardik Pandya will captain the T20 side and Shikhar Dhawan is the skipper for the One Day Internationals.
