The Haryana government will soon fly in the new helicopter of the German company. This helicopter with nine seats and two engines will come for Rs 105 crore. The Finance Department had objected to its purchase, which has been removed on the request of the government. After the clearance of the Finance Department, the government has also placed an order for a German private company for the purchase of a new helicopter.
According to the Civil Aviation Department, the company will deliver the helicopter in 15 months. The state government had proposed to buy a helicopter worth Rs 105 crore in the meeting of the High Power Purchase Committee held a few months ago. The committee approved its purchase after deliberating and negotiating with the company representatives, but the Finance Department objected to the purchase of the helicopter by spending such a huge amount. Due to this the problem got stuck in the purchase.
The government argued to the Finance Department that the helicopter currently being used by the Governor and the Chief Minister is 14 years old. Its repair and maintenance is going to cost a lot, so buying a new chopper is the need of the hour. Many times the helicopter is not able to take flight, at that time under the government system, a helicopter of the Punjab government has to be hired.
The old helicopter is getting expensive to operate, so it needs to be removed by buying a new one. In view of the government’s argument, the Finance Department had approved the purchase of the new helicopter, after which the government has issued a purchase order after re-approving the proposal in the High Power Purchase Committee meeting held this month.
