The attackers opened indiscriminate fire on the candidate of Sarpanch Dalbir and his son late night in village Chhichhdana of Gohana town of Sonipat district of Haryana. Both were seriously injured due to bullets. On coming to know about the incident, the relatives who reached the spot took both of them in critical condition to the hospital of Women’s Medical College Khanpur. Where the doctor declared Dalbir dead. His son’s condition remains critical. SP Himanshu Garg and other officials reached the spot as soon as the matter was detected. Police has started investigating the matter.

Dalbir (53), a resident of village Chhichdana, was contesting for the post of sarpanch from the village. He had gone on a scooty with his son Rahul on Thursday night to campaign in his favor in the village. When he was returning home after campaigning late in the night, the assailants who were already ambushed near the house opened fire on the father and son.

About eight shots were fired during this period. Both father and son were seriously injured due to bullets. After being shot, Rahul ran towards his house screaming in an injured condition and informed the family members about the matter. On which, after the information, the relatives reached the spot and took both the injured to the hospital of Khanpur Medical College.

After the examination there, the doctors declared Dalbir dead. At the same time, his son is being given treatment in a serious condition. There was a stir after the incident. SP Himanshu Garg and DSP Mukesh Kumar also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The police team has started investigating the matter. Action will be taken on the basis of the statement of the family members.

This time four candidates Dalbir, Praveen, Ravindra and Rajesh were in the fray in village Chridana. While three of them belong to the general category, Dalbir was from the backward class. His murder has spread mourning in the village.
