Dependent on a mountain spring
They depend for water only on a small spring or stream coming out of the mountain. Till now neither the tap-water scheme nor the facility of hand pump has reached here. Tribal people say that earlier there was water facility in the old township, this is the new township, they have been drawing water from here for 20 years. For drinking water, they depend only on the water coming out of the mountain.
There is a handpump in the village, that too bad.
The villagers told that many years ago a hand pump was installed on it, but it is lying defunct. Due to lack of water from anywhere, these people are forced to drink dirty drain water.
There is a crowd in the waterfall in the morning and evening.
There is a crowd of women and children and elders in the morning, afternoon and evening near this waterfall. By filling the water coming out of the mountain in a vessel, carrying it on her forehead, she reaches her home by covering a distance of about 500 meters. Ram Vishwas Kol of Doma village says that during his father’s time also water used to go to the house from here. Today we are also taking water from here.
time takes hours
Badki Geetabai, a woman from the same village, says that she was married 20 years ago in this village. Since then she has been coming down the mountain every day to fill water. According to Lakshmi, it takes half an hour to fill water here once. Means every day about three to four hours are spent coming down the mountain to fill water.
