Melbourne: Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell fractured his leg in an accident during a birthday party here, casting doubts over his tour of India next year. Maxwell (34) suffered a fracture in his left leg ‘fibula’ on the occasion of his friend’s 50th birthday celebration and underwent surgery on Sunday.
The incident happened on Saturday in which Maxwell and his friend were running to the back of the house. According to the report of cricket.com.au, “Both slipped and fell in which Maxwell’s leg came under his friend. Neither of them was in an inebriated state and the other person was not injured.” Australia is scheduled to play four Tests and three ODIs during the tour of India from February to March next year. Now it has to be seen whether he will be able to recover in time for these matches.

The injury also ruled Maxwell out of the one-day series against England starting in Adelaide on Thursday. He will also miss the Big Bash League to be held from December 13 to February 4.
