Indore News: Former Congress MLA Balamukund Gautam, convicted of attempt to murder, has been sentenced to 7 years rigorous imprisonment by the special court, including his two brothers, while 3 accused were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Anticipating an uproar, police force was called from several places in the district court even before the verdict was pronounced by the special court on Saturday evening. Top police officers had also reached the district court. In fact, both the parties had lodged FIRs against each other in the matter. The special court acquitted the 13 people against whom Balmukund had filed a case of murder against them due to lack of evidence.

The incident took place on June 2, 2017 at around 9:30 pm. Complainant Chandan Singh lodged a report at Pithampur police station that he was at his house in Ghatabillod that accused Balmukund Gautam, Rakesh Gautam, Manoj Gautam, Pankaj Gautam, Virender Singh, Rajesh Singh, Chandrabhushan Kushwaha, Jitendra Singh and Shailendra alias Pintu Jaiswal Came along and started fighting over an old dispute. The accused also fired during the altercation, which hit Chandrabhushan, Suresh Solanki and another.
The police had registered a case of attempt to murder against all the nine accused in the case. On Saturday, Special Judge Mukesh Nath sentenced 6 of the 9 convicts to 7-7 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.8,000 each for attempt to murder. The special court acquitted Chandrabhushan Jeetu and Shailendra and Pintu due to lack of evidence. Advocate Ajay Shankar Ukas appeared on behalf of these three.
