In Nalanda, DM Shashank Shubhankar inspected the site of Bargaon Sun Temple pond on Monday. This pond is being renovated. The silt is being removed from the pond through the newly formed Nagar Panchayat Nalanda. Instructions were given to complete this work expeditiously.
A boring is being done by the local people for the arrangement of water in the pond. Two borings are also to be done through Nagar Panchayat Nalanda. It was told by the Executive Officer, Nagar Panchayat, Nalanda that both the boring work would be completed within 3 to 4 days. Then through it it will be ensured that sufficient water is filled in the pond.
The District Magistrate also interacted with the local people and inquired about the level of water in the pond in the last years. It was asked to store water up to the top of the pucca stairs built around the pond so that the Ardh can be offered by the Chhath Vratis only on the pucca stairs. Where the stairs end on the inside of the pond, instructions were given to ensure strong barricading on all four sides from the shore.
Sand bags have also been asked to be placed at the bottom of the stairs. SDRF will be deployed along with the boat at the time of Chhath Puja in the pond. The District Magistrate directed the Sub-Divisional Officer, Rajgir, present on the spot to ensure timely action for the control room, barricading etc. On this occasion, Sub-Divisional Officer Rajgir, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajgir, Executive Officer Nagar Panchayat Nalanda, Block Development Officer Silao, Circle Officer Silao and other officials and local people were present.
