Franchisee employees sitting on strike.
Workers of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited, Samastipur, have been sitting on a dharna in front of the rural SDO office at Jitwarpur Power House since Friday to protest against the sudden termination of service of the franchisee personnel working under the rural SDO. The franchisee workers sitting on the dharna said that the contact regarding their work is till the month of December, while on December 1 itself a message was given on WhatsApp that you people have been relieved from work. By doing this they will become unemployed.
They have been doing the work of collecting electricity bills in this department for 1 years. Workers sitting on the dharna said that about 15 franchisee agencies work under Samastipur Vidyut Gramin SDO, which will have about 200 workers. With the removal of franchisee personnel from this work, all the people will suddenly become unemployed. In front of whom the problem of livelihood will arise. However, the Rural SDO of the Electricity Department, Mohd. Khalid says that the direction of the department is to get the work done by the agency instead of the franchisee, due to which the work of this area has been entrusted to the agency.
Because the franchise period has ended and prepaid meters have now been installed in most of the areas, in such a situation the need for personnel has almost ended. Those sitting on dharna include Naveen Kumar, Pappu Kumar, Naveen Kumar, Pinku Kumar, Mahesh Prasad, Lalan Kumar, Neeraj Kumar, Ankur Sharma etc.
