In such a situation, the next day of Diwali can prove to be windy and stifling.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air on Friday was recorded in the poor category with an AQI of 262. According to Safar India, stubble is being burnt in neighboring states. At the same time, according to agencies monitoring stubble burning, stubble burning has started in the outskirts of Delhi as well. However, the share of stubble smoke in pollution is negligible. Experts say that the air quality is recording in the poor to very poor category even before Diwali. At the same time, on the occasion of Diwali, the air quality can reach in the very poor to severe category. Experts say that the incidents of stubble burning may also increase after Diwali. Also, due to the drop in the mercury and lower wind speed, it will help the pollutants to settle.

Wind speed will decrease with change of direction

According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), the wind direction has been south-east on Friday. At the same time, from Saturday, the direction of the wind will change to the north-east. Also the wind speed will decrease. Due to the change of wind direction, the pollutants will reach Delhi-NCR with the wind. Also, the pollution at the local level will also make the air more suffocating. In the last 24 hours, the level of mixing height was two thousand meters and the ventilation index was recorded at 6800 square meters per second. By Saturday, the level of mixing height can be recorded up to 2450 meters and ventilation index up to 10 thousand square meters per second. SAFAR India has forecast that the wind speed of eight to 10 kilometers per hour can be recorded for the next three days.
