    Delhi AIIMS: Private agents seen in AIIMS will go to jail, strict guidelines issued for security, accountability fixed

    If employees of private companies, hospitals, laboratories, radiology centers, establishments are seen in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, they will go straight to jail. Till now, they used to exploit patients financially by luring them. They also used to get their OPD cards made by taking money. In fact, thousands of patients come to AIIMS every day with their attendants. Many of these patients are surrounded by agents and taken to their institutions in the name of treatment. In view of this, AIIMS Director Dr. M. Srinivas has issued a directive late on Friday night.

    The order states that private agents take patients out in the name of offers for examination. Some agents are also selling medicines, disposables, surgical items and implants etc. Action will now be taken against all such unknown agents. He has instructed all the doctors, nurses and staff members that if any unknown person is seen roaming in AIIMS, then immediately inform on WhatsApp number 9355023969. The security staff will hand them over to the AIIMS police post. Anyone can also mail them to get them caught. The identity of the reporter will be kept confidential.

    The AIIMS director said in the order that it would be mandatory to wear uniform and display identity cards to enhance security at the workplace. Apart from this, instructions have also been given for the employees working in the operation theatre. It will be the responsibility of all the heads of departments to provide proper facilities to the waiting list patients. If any unauthorized agent is found in any part of the premises, the concerned area in-charge will also be held responsible and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against them.
