    Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received Dimitri Kerkentzes, secretary general of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), here on Monday.

During the reception, they reviewed the file of Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the World Expo 2030 in Riyadh.

The reception was attended by the CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City Fahd Al-Rasheed.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia launched in October 2021 its bid to host the World Expo 2030.

The Kingdom took part in a virtual general assembly meeting of the Bureau International des Expositions held in Paris to start the candidature process, which will take place in five stages and will end with a final vote.

The host country of World Expo 2030 will be elected by BIE member states, gathered in a General Assembly set to take place in November 2023.

Five countries, including Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Italy, Ukraine, and Russia are competing to host the global event. According to BIE’s website, Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the World Expo in Riyadh between October 1, 2030, and March 31, 2031, was under the theme of “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.”
