Beijing: The administration of China’s largest city Shanghai on Friday ordered an investigation of all 1.3 million people of its Yangpu district for Kovid-19. Along with this, a decree has also been issued that people should not leave their homes till the investigation report comes. Similar orders were given this summer as well, after which the entire city was under lockdown for two months. This devastated the local economy of the city with a population of 25 million, food shortages, and conflicts between people and officials.
China sticks to its ‘zero Kovid’ policy and the government has shown no signs of backtracking after the ruling Communist Party’s convention this week. At the same time, the people of China are hopeful of relief from strict anti-coronavirus measures, because these measures are still in force in the country, while many countries of the world have started removing them.

The borders of China are mainly closed and on reaching the country, they have to stay in isolation for 10 days. On Friday, 1337 new cases of corona virus were confirmed in China and two patients have died. Most of these patients had no symptoms of infection. In Shanghai, 11 such patients have been found who did not have any symptoms of infection. Five such cases have been found in Tibet. China has said that the total cases of Kovid in the country have increased to 258,660 while 5226 people have died so far.
Meanwhile, according to business magazine KaiChin, restrictions in China are showing signs of persisting and Shanghai is working on a plan to build a permanent isolated habitat on an island in the Huanpu River. According to the magazine, it will have 3,009 separate rooms and 3250 beds and its construction will be completed in six months. (agency)
