Congress Attacks BJP: The Congress on Friday alleged that poverty is taking a frightening form, but the government is uninformed, citing foreign institutions cutting India’s economic growth rate in the forecast. Party spokesperson Supriya Srinet also claimed that this situation would not have arisen if Prime Minister Narendra Modi had implemented the suggestions of the Congress. Supriya told reporters, “Poverty in the country is taking a frightening form and the government is oblivious. Last evening the World Bank for the third time this year reduced our projected GDP growth rate from 7.5 percent to 6.5 percent. Expressing concern over the rise in poverty in India, the bank made a big disclosure that during the Kovid period, about 5.6 crore people went into the realm of extreme poverty.

    ‘Things are getting worse’

The Congress spokesperson said, “During the pandemic, Congress President and Rahul Gandhi had repeatedly demanded some financial help to the poor, which the government ignored – if they had listened, then lakhs of workers would have been in the scorching sun,” the Congress spokesperson said. Do not walk on foot and crores of people do not fall into the clutches of poverty.” He claimed, “Things are getting worse – rupee has fallen to 82.33 per dollar – forex reserves continue to deplete – in the last 9 months there has been a loss of about $100 billion. Exports have increased by 3.5 percent. There has been a decline, investment has also been blunt due to low consumption, rising unemployment and the deplorable condition of micro, small, medium industries has created a deep crisis.

    ‘Government doesn’t care’

The Congress spokesperson said, “The government is not worried about this even in this appalling situation – hollow propaganda is going on – Modi ji was earlier making gold from potatoes, now he will get potatoes picked up by drones by becoming a Dronecharya.” Supriya asked, “When the price of crude oil fell from $ 116 a barrel to $ 91 a barrel, why were we not reducing the price here? Who are we doing good by raising the price of CNG by Rs 6 and PNG by Rs 4?” ?
