THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has annulled the proclamation of Negros Oriental Gov. Pryde Henry Teves and installed in his place Roel Degamo.
In a nine-page resolution, the Commission en Banc upheld the ruling of the Second Division which declared Grego “Ruel” Degamo a nuisance candidate.
All 49,039 votes garnered by the nuisance candidate will be credited to Roel Degamo on top of the 277,462 he garnered for a total vote of 326,501. Teves got 296,897 votes.
In the absence of a restraining order from the Supreme Court, the Commission en Banc issued a writ of execution, dated September 27 but made public only on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, and entry of judgment. The Clerk of the commission served the notice and writ of execution to both parties.
With the Commission’s order, the Special Board of Canvassers (SPBOC) of Negros Oriental was directed to convene on Oct. 3, 2022, at 10 am
The SPBOC was directed to annul the proclamation of Teves as provincial governor and credit the votes obtained by the nuisance candidate Grego “Ruel” Degamo to Roel Degamo.
