Christina Koch: Astronaut Christina Koch will be the first woman to walk on the Moon. The US space agency NASA announced that Christina would be the mission expert. Four people will board the Orion spacecraft for the trip around the Moon. With this, astronaut Christina Koch will be the first woman to go to the Moon.
So far only male astronauts have been in lunar orbit and on the surface. The new mission marks the first arrival of a female astronaut within the confines of the Moon. NASA announced that Christina Koch will be on a 10-day long mission around the Moon. He will be accompanied by astronauts Jeremy Hansen, Victor Glover and Reed Wiseman.
Christina Koch said that it is an honor for me to be here. When I think about this mission, it is wonderful in itself. We are going to ride the most powerful rocket in the world and we will reach the peaks of thousands of miles. Then we’ll move on to the Moon. The enthusiasm, aspirations and dreams of the world are with us in this mission to the moon.
Who is Astronaut Christina Koch?
Astronaut Christina Hammock Koch joined NASA in 2013 and served as a flight engineer on the International Space Station (ISS) for Expeditions 59, 60 and 61. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Physics and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Prior to becoming an astronaut, Koch spanned both space science instrument development and remote scientific field engineering. His career began as an electrical engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), where he contributed scientific equipment to many of NASA’s space science missions.
