    Calum MacLeod Retirement | Scotland batsman Callum McLeod said goodbye to cricket after being out of the World Cup

    New Delhi: Scotland’s star batsman Calum MacLeod has announced his retirement from international cricket. He entered the cricket world in the year 2007. He has played 229 matches for Scotland so far. After retiring, he says that he was inspired to become a cricketer after watching Scotland’s match against Australia in the 1999 World Cup. He recently also participated in the T20 World Cup 2022.

    McLeod said after retiring, “It is difficult to retire after this World Cup, because we have not achieved the success we came to achieve. I am leaving this team in the hope that when given the right opportunities and support, this team will go a long way and inspire a lot of people. I feel very proud to have got the opportunity to play for my country 229 times. I think the team is in pretty good shape from the time I started playing.”

    McLeod has played five World Cups in his career. He played the best innings of his career in 2018. In the one-day match against England, he played an innings of 140 runs, due to which Scotland was able to make a big score of 371 runs. After which Scotland registered the dee in this match by four runs.

    The 33-year-old McLeod played 87 ODIs in his career, in which he scored 3024 runs. During this he also scored 10 centuries and 13 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has also played 64 T20 International matches. In which he scored 1239 runs. He played his last match in the T20 World Cup 2022 against Zimbabwe on 21 October.
