Indian-origin British parliamentarian and former finance minister Rishi Sunak has crossed the minimum nomination limit to be in the race for the post of UK prime minister. He has received more than 100 nominations for the Conservative Party and the post of British Prime Minister. Rishi Sunak is the first to claim the post after the resignation of former Prime Minister Liz Truss, who has won the support of 100 MPs. This time the main match seems to be between Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson.

According to reports, Boris Johnson has returned from vacation in the Caribbean to gain the support of lawmakers. On the other hand, Sunak’s supporters claim that he has achieved the support figure of 100 MPs required to join the race for the post of Prime Minister.

With close to 90 public supporters such as Dominic Raab and Sajid Javid, Rishi Sunak is currently the frontrunner and favorite amid the ongoing political crisis in Britain following the resignation of Liz Truss on Thursday. While Johnson has won the support of six incumbent cabinet ministers, including Ben Wallace, Simon Clarke, Chris Heaton-Harris, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Alok Sharma and Anne-Marie Trevelyan. Former Home Minister Priti Patel is also likely to support him.

The number of lawmakers who publicly support Johnson’s return is 46, but his supporters are confident that he will reach the required figure of 100 lawmakers by Monday.

    Johnson-Sunk deal likely
There is speculation among the supporters of former PM Boris Johnson and former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak in the race for the post of Prime Minister that there may be some kind of deal between the two. According to The Daily Telegraph newspaper, Sunak may be offered home minister or any other important post in the cabinet. But some supporters say that Sunak is not going to do anything like this.
