Bhadohi Fire: Around 42 people were burnt to death after a fire broke out at a Durga Puja pandal in Aurai police station area of Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh late on Sunday evening. District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi said, “A total of 42 people have been scorched due to fire in a Durga Puja pandal in Aurai police station area and the matter is being investigated.” reached the spot for
‘Around 300 people were present in the pandal at the time of the accident’
According to the local administration, nine of the scorched people were admitted to a local hospital, while 33 others with serious burns were shifted to a nearby hospital in Varanasi. A fire department official said that the incident happened around 9:30 pm, while the aarti was going on. According to him, around 300 people were present in the pandal at the time of the accident. He said that prima facie the cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
CM Yogi gave instructions for the treatment of the injured
On receiving information about the fire in the pandal, CM Yogi Adityanath took cognizance and instructed to get proper treatment for the people injured in the accident. He wished the injured a speedy recovery. He has also directed the District Magistrate and high officials of the police to reach the spot. At the same time, relief work is going on at the spot.
Entire pandal burnt due to fire, no damage to statues
Significantly, today was the Saptami Puja of Navratri and people had gone to the pandal to have darshan of Goddess Durga. District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are present on the spot. Due to the fire, the entire pandal got burnt down and everything kept there got burnt. However, there was no damage to the statues.
