Digital Desk, Mumbai. Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam has completed 24 years of its release and continues to be a favorite of the audience, especially the millennials.
Directed by celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is noted for its grandeur, music, style and production design and is considered one of Bhansali’s finest works.
The film follows a love triangle between Nandini (Aishwarya), Sameer (Salman) and the man they are ordered to marry, Vanraj (Ajay Devgn). This is the story of Nandini and Sameer, daughters of a famous musician, who come from Italy to learn music from their father.
Both Nandini and Sameer fall in love. But Nandini’s father forces Sameer to leave India as a fee for teaching music. A saddened Nandini is married to Vanraj, who is upset to learn that his newly married wife is in love with someone else.
Vanraj vows to reunite Nandini with Sameer, and they leave for Italy in search of Sameer. But during their journey together, Nandini comes to deeply respect and love her selfless husband, and chooses to be with him in the end.
As the film completes 24 years, Bhansali Productions shared some beautiful stills from the film on Instagram and captioned it: Celebrating 24 glorious years of a timeless story that reflects passion, sacrifice and the beauty of true love.
The film marked Salman’s second collaboration with Bhansali after his highly successful release Khamoshi in 1996.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam includes songs Nimbuda Nimbuda, Tadap Tadap and Dholi Taro Dhol Baje among many more. Apart from this, the film includes many iconic songs like the title track Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Incidentally, Salman and Aishwarya, who once set Bollywood on fire with their romance, fell in love on the sets of the film itself. After traveling a long journey of more than two decades, the four talents of the film, Ajay, Salman, Aishwarya and Bhansali, have carved a niche for themselves in the industry.
While Salman and Ajay are among some of India’s biggest superstars, Aishwarya has represented India on several international platforms.
Aishwarya’s recent outing Ponniyin Selvan won accolades, while Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 revived Bollywood. Salman’s Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ki Jaan also managed to pull in the crowd.
Salman is gearing up for his much awaited Tiger 3. Bhansali has carved a niche for making films that are poetry in motion because of his brilliant production design, style and music.
The director, best known for Black, Devdas, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, will soon come up with his OTT debut with Heeramandi.
