Roger Binny Profile: Former cricketer Roger Binny, who was part of the team that made the country world champions for the first time, may become the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). If all goes well, Roger Binny will replace Sourav Ganguly in the BCCI. At the same time, Jai Shah’s claim on the post of secretary is the biggest. Jay Shah may continue in this post. BCCI is to be held on 18 October. Earlier on Monday, discussions took place in the internal meeting of BCCI in Mumbai. Jay Shah is the son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the chairman of the Gujarat Cricket Board.
Roger Binny may file his nomination for the post of BCCI chief on Tuesday. Candidates who are contesting for the post of BCCI office-bearer can file their nominations on Tuesday and Wednesday. While Rajeev Shukla will continue to be the vice chairman of the board, Ashish Sailor may take over as the new treasurer in place of Arun Singh Dhumal.

Roger Binny is the first Anglo-Indian of Scottish origin to play cricket for India. His son Stuart Binny has followed in his footsteps and played international cricket for the Karnataka cricket team and then for the India national cricket team.
Roger Binny, who played a key role in India’s first World Cup victory in 1983, played 27 Tests and 72 ODIs for India between 1979 and 1987. Roger Binny has also served as the senior national men’s team selector in the past. Binny was still in the selection panel when the team was selected for the 2015 World Cup.
Roger Binny’s name has been in the race for BCCI president since earlier this month. He was also named as the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s representative for the BCCI AGM.
