Pakistan’s swashbuckling batsman Babar Azam will captain Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming season of Pakistan’s league cricket, PSL 2023. According to a sports news agency, ESPNcricinfo, Peshawar Zalmi took Babar Azam from Karachi Kings in exchange for Shoaib Malik and Haider Ali.
It is noteworthy that since the inception of PSL in 2016, no other team has more fan base than Peshawar Zalm. Darren Sammy, Hasan Ali, Kamran Akmal and Wahab Riaz stayed together till last season. However, later the relationship between Sammy and Akmal was definitely seen sour regarding team management. Remind you that Peshawar Jalmi won the trophy in PSL 2017. Apart from this, she was the runner up in the 2018, 2019 and 2021 seasons of PSL. Has also done exceptionally well in PSL 2020 and PSL 2022 reaching the Eliminator. Wahab Riaz’s performance was excellent and he was batting.
Significantly, there is no old edge in the performance of Wahab Riaz. The 37-year-old Wahab Riaz, the league’s leading wicket-taker, was downgraded from Platinum to Diamond PCL player category earlier this year. Kamran Akmal, 40, has also been dropped now. Now Peshawar Jalmi are looking for a strong playing XI for the PSL Draft to be held on December 15 in Karachi.
The franchise has taken dangerous batsman Mohammad Haris along with Babar Azam. Sherfane Rutherford, Amir Jamal, Salman Irshad and Tom-Kohler Cadmore have been retained.
