    Reports are coming that a 22-year-old army jawan went missing after he drowned while bathing in the river Ganga at Manihari in Katihar district. The incident happened at 11:00 am today. The missing jawan Vishal Kumar Poddar is the son of Vijay Kumar Poddar, a resident of Ward No. 44. Vishal is serving in the army since 2018. At present, the police is searching with the help of local divers. However, the incident has been reported to NDRF.

    Vijay Kumar Poddar, father of the missing youth Vishal, told about the incident that Vishal along with his other two friends had left for a bath at Manihari Ganga Ghat on a bike. However, the family members had refused to go to Manihari. Despite this, he did not agree and left after taking a bath.

    Missing jawan Vishal is serving in the army since the year 2018 and is currently posted in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. Vishal had come home with his family members on holiday to celebrate Chhath. Vishal is third among his four brothers. The youth’s father Vijay Kumar Poddar works as a rickshaw puller to support his family. Vijay Kumar told that since childhood, Vishal wanted to serve Mother India by joining the Indian Army. To remove the poverty of his family, Vishal worked hard and got this job in the year 2018. Vishal was very happy after getting the job.
