In 1973, when Lalu Prasad became the President of Patna University Students Union, Sushil Modi was elected as the General Secretary. After the year 1984, the student union elections were organized after 28 years in 2012.

The last student union election of Patna University was held in the year 2019. After this, in view of the danger of corona infection, elections could not be held in the year 2020 and 2021.
