    Andhra Pradesh: A blast took place in the premises of a police station in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. The police informed about this. The blast took place when some explosive material stored in Gangadhara Nellore police station premises exploded in the early hours of the day. A policeman has suffered minor injuries.

    The explosive material was seized in 2018 when it was being illegally transported by mine operators in the area. The same was buried in the rear part of the police station building. According to the police, the seized material suddenly flew away in the early hours of Saturday. Panic spread in the area due to loud explosion and fire. A car seized in various cases and some two-wheelers were gutted in the fire. The doors and windows of the police station building and adjoining houses have also been damaged in the incident.

Top police officers visited the police station. An official said an inquiry has been ordered into the cause of the blast.
