With the change in the leadership of the Bihar Congress, there has been a stir. Congress leaders are not coming forward openly. But, Andarkhane was also opposing Akhilesh Prasad Singh who became the new President of Bihar Congress. With Akhilesh Prasad Singh becoming the President, Amita Bhushan, a strong leader of Bihar Congress and State President of Bihar Congress Mahila Morcha, resigned. Although he did not resign from the Congress.
Amita Bhushan sent her resignation to the National President of Mahila Morcha. Dainik Bhaskar had a special talk with Amita Bhushan in which she told why she has resigned and in what role she will work in Congress next.
Question – Why did you resign?
Amita Bhushan- Actually, Bihar Congress Mahila Morcha was there for 9 years as the president. I had urged the Central Committee that someone else should get a chance on this post. Because, if change is happening now, then this change should also have happened.
You must have heard that it was said in the Udaipur camp that no one person should hold office for more than 5 years. I thought now is the right time and I should resign. Others should get a chance and there are many such people who are constantly on their posts, they should also leave their posts.
With Akhilesh Singh becoming the president, Amita Bhushan, state president of Bihar Congress Mahila Morcha, resigned.
Question – Things are coming that you got angry when Akhilesh Prasad Singh became the president, that’s why you resigned
Amita Bhushan- The organization will continue. Today there is someone, tomorrow there will be someone else. I am completely honest about the party, I am loyal. You would know that I am third generation in Congress, my grandfather was MLA from Congress, my mother was MP and I was associated with Congress when the condition of Congress was not right. Coming and going goes on and there is no Congress of any person.
I am not leaving Congress. I have resigned from the post of Mahila Morcha President. I am in Congress and you will know that I had been requesting for many days that I should be relieved from this post. There are many people who should get a chance. There are many women who will work well if they remain in this post, I will cooperate with them.
Question – Congress which was just standing on its feet. You are a strong woman leader, why resign at such a time?
Amita Bhushan – Congress will not be weak. We want the party to be strong. Congress moves ahead, Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. How many days have I been in the Congress, I am still on the post. Now I want to work as an ordinary worker in Congress. I will work as a Congress worker.
Question- Akhilesh Prasad Singh comes from Bhumihar caste, you are also Bhumihar, it is believed that two swords cannot remain in one sheath?
Amita Bhushan – For a long time I was in this position, there were many other senior leaders who came from the same caste. I feel I have been here for too long, people from other societies should get a chance. There should not be a chance in the media to say that everyone from the same society is stuck on one position. It is possible that the president of Mahila Morcha becomes a woman from some other society, she will also get a chance to work.
Question – To whom have you resigned and what was the conversation with the state leadership?
Amita Bhushan – Don’t know how the matter came in the media. I had given my resignation to the President of National Mahila Morcha of Congress. I submitted my resignation via email. Don’t know how it reached you guys. I had requested earlier also and I felt this is the right time to resign. I was in this position for 9 years. Party leaders trusted me.
Question – Has the resignation been accepted, has it been discussed with the leadership
Amita Bhushan – It will definitely take a day or two. If others get this opportunity, it will take a day or two. The state leadership is talking to everyone. Everyone is calling. Everyone is talking, talks are also being held with the central leadership. Everyone knows me, how I work, everyone knows.
