    Amit Shah Jammu-Kashmir Visit: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh visited Baramulla on Monday and chaired a meeting to review the security arrangements ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the UT. The security arrangements for the yatra including routes and places were discussed during the meeting. Deployment of manpower from various forces and intelligence agencies was also discussed in the meeting.

    The meeting was attended by ADGP, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang K Pol, DIG NKR Udayabhaskar Billa, Baramulla SSP Rais Mohammad Bhat, ASP Baramulla RK Parihar and jurisdictional SDPOs. Addressing the officers, the DGP stressed on greater synergy between various agencies and forces being deployed for the security of VVIPs.

    Emphasis on keeping an eye on the activities of suspicious elements

    He stressed on the need to keep an eye on the activities of suspicious elements who always try to find an opportunity to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the Union Territory. He directed the officers to conduct proper briefing to the personnel on security duty at various places.

    The DGP emphasized on the use of technology and security equipment including CCTV cameras in the route of travel and places. He said that a comprehensive communication network should be ensured for coordination among the agencies involved in the security arrangements. While discussing the traffic arrangements, he asked to divert the public transport to alternate routes so that the common passengers do not have to suffer due to security reasons.

    Amit Shah on three-day visit from September 30

    Significantly, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from 30 September. During this he is scheduled to visit Mata Vaishno Devi temple, address two rallies and review development activities. BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit general secretary and former minister Sunil Sharma, however, said the visit should not be linked with the yet-to-be-announced assembly elections.
