Before the panchayat elections, amazing was seen in the voter list of ward number six of Dhakaula village of Ambala. In this, the photo of 75-year-old Charanjit Kaur, a single woman, was pasted on 100 voter IDs. This has not happened yet, but this is the condition of the voter list for the last seven years, while the woman says that she has complained about it many times but the voter list was not corrected.
In view of the Panchayat elections, once again this voter list has become a cause of discussion and uproar in the Saha area of Ambala as other villagers of the area are also being affected by this wrong list. On the other hand, after the protest of the villagers, the Block and Development Panchayat Officer has also formed an inquiry committee in this regard. Charanjit Kaur is a resident of Dhakaula village. The woman said that this mess was first exposed in 2015.
In the election of the year 2019 also, the picture of the same was pasted on more than a hundred voter cards in the voter list. To get it rectified, she had gone to the Panchayat office where she had requested that her photo be removed from the column in front of the names of other voters included in the voter list. Despite this, his problem was not solved. The woman told that there are many names of men in the voter list, but the photo of the same is pasted in front of their column as well.
Surprisingly, Charanjit Kaur’s photo has also been put in front of the names of the girls of the village who have been married or those who have died. In this context, Charanjit Kaur’s son Tejinder Singh told that the photo of my mother is in the column in front of the names of other voters in the voter list of the ward.
We have appealed to the Panchayat office many times but no one is listening. The son told that we are very upset about this because the villagers are opposing it. We demand from the administration that the voter list should be corrected and his mother’s photo should be removed from the voter ID of other voters and an inquiry should be made that how such a big error happened in the end.
On the other hand, after two days of dharna by the villagers in this matter, the BDPO has constituted a committee to investigate. After this the villagers suspended the dharna for the time being. The villagers have warned that if it is not resolved in two days, they will stage a sit-in again.
Allegations of fake votes
The villagers, who have been staging a sit-in for the last two days demanding to fix the wardbandi, say that they have also got fake votes in the voter list. In the voter list, 1480 votes of eight wards are shown. Of these, 350 votes are fake. 36 out of 192 in Ward-2, 41 out of 161 in Ward-4 and 18 out of 181 in Ward-8 have died many years ago. At the same time, the voter of Ward-2 has been included in 7, the voter of Ward-3 has been included in five and the voter of Ward-4 has been included in six.
