Uttar Pradesh News: Six people, including four children, died after being electrocuted in a handcart after a procession-e-Mohammad, which was to be taken out on the occasion of Barawafat, in Masupur village of Nanpara area of Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh at 4 am on Sunday. Three other people got burnt. Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar Choudhary reached the spot and told reporters, “A procession was taken out in Bhaggadwa village of Nanpara Kotwali on Saturday night. The procession had ended at two o’clock in the night. After this some boys took the procession and went to the neighboring village of Masupur.
Electric wire touched by iron pipe in handcart
Choudhary said, “The iron pipe in the same cart touched the electric wire and people got electrocuted. Six people died after being electrocuted while trying to save each other.” He said that Sufiyan (12), Ilyas (16) and Ashraf Ali (30) residents of Bhaggadwa and Shafiq (12) of Malhipur (Shravasti) died on the spot. At the same time, Tabrez (16) and Arfat (10) residents of Bhaggadwa died during treatment in the hospital.
CM Yogi expressed grief over the incident
According to Chowdhary, Murad (18), Aftab (12) and Chandbabu (18) of Bhaggadwa village, who were seriously scorched in the accident, have been admitted to Bahraich Medical College. He said, “The families have refused to conduct the post-mortem of the dead. He says that the incident happened suddenly, in which no one is to blame. So they will not conduct the post-mortem.” Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He has also given instructions for proper treatment of the people injured in the accident.
