AFP gets boost with new truck-mounted Howitzer systems

THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on Saturday that the Philippine Army (PA) is now stronger in its fight against terrorist groups following the arrival of eight new self-propelled 155mm Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer Systems (Atmos 2000) in Camp Lucero , North Cotabato. In a simple ceremony, Col. Francis Anthony Coronel, commander of the Army Artillery Regiment; Lt. Col. Raquel Vilchez, commander of the 7th Field Artillery Battalion (7FAB); Lt. Col. Chamberlain Esmino, commander of 10FAB; and BGen. Jovencio Gonzales, 602nd Infantry (Liberator) Brigade commander presented PA’s newest and biggest gun arsenals to MGen. Roy Galido, commander of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID) and Joint Task Force-Central, together with the troops. “With these new assets, the enemies of the State would no longer be able to escape, Galido said. It aims to modernize the Army in order to be more effective in protecting the people and securing the state, Galido said.
