Work on new water treatment plant and intakewell stopped: water was to be delivered from door to door this month, but 25% of pipe laying work left

The work on the new treatment plant being built at Barari Water Works has just stopped.

Under ADB’s Rs 525 crore water supply scheme, Ganga water was to reach every household in the city from this month itself. But now when the work will be completed, Budke officials are not in a position to tell. Budke is responsible for getting the work done. Going by the pace of work, it does not seem that the residents of the city will be able to get the benefit of this scheme next year as well. Because till now the work of laying iron pipe on NH about 3 km from new water treatment plant, intakewell, engineering college to Jeeramile is pending. Overall, 25 per cent work of pipe laying is left. 450 kilometer pipe is to be laid in the city. From the new treatment plant, water is to be supplied to 19 water towers of the city.

But till now only three water towers are ready, where water can be stored. The biggest problem is the lack of funds. The work of this scheme was also stopped. Allocation of about 20 crores started a week ago and the amount was given to the two agencies. After this, the agency KCPL has started the work of laying pipes in front of the urban bypass being built by Khanjarpur Hawker. But the VATech agency has not even restarted the work of the treatment plant and intake well.

The work of this scheme started in the city from 2015 itself. Budke’s assistant engineer Amit Kumar told that the work of laying pipe on three kilometer NH from Engineering College to Geramile is pending. Permission has not been received from NH. Corresponded several times. The amount of 20 crores has come and the payment has been done. The work of treatment plant and intake well will start now.

The land of Barhapura Jalminar is not fixed
So far in seven years, only pipes have reached the houses of about 50 thousand people. Water has reached the houses of about 18 thousand people. In place of 21 water towers, only three housing boards have been commissioned in Burari, TMBU and Warsaliganj. Due to this the water is going to be brought. But this water is also of Bering. As of now the water of the Ganga has not reached here through the pipe. The work of Jalminar is going on at 15 places. The land of Jalminar in Barhapura is not fixed at all. The design has not been approved in Aliganj and Nathnagar.

Some work is still pending approval
By when the water supply scheme will be completed, it cannot be told now. Approval of some other works has to be taken. The time line will be fixed only after meeting him.
