Who Will Guarantee The Safety Of Children In Schools Amid Violence In Manipur?

Schools have been opened in Manipur after 2 months amid violence. After the opening of the schools, now these questions are being raised that who will guarantee the safety of the children in the schools?

A middle-aged woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside a school in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Thursday. The incident came a day after the state government ordered the reopening of educational institutions in the violence-hit state after two months.

Where on the first day less attendance was recorded in schools of all the districts. On the other hand, due to continuous violence and arson, parents were seen afraid to send their children to school even on Thursday.

The death of the woman outside the school has left the parents even more worried. The question on everyone’s mind is whether their children will be safe in schools or not.

According to the Times of India, a school principal said that parents are not willing to send their children to school before the situation returns to normal. Classes 1 to 8 resumed on Wednesday but the number of students was negligible.

However, many students and parents have welcomed the state government’s decision to resume classes. Chief Minister N Biren Singh had announced the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8 from July 5.

“I am very happy. Finally, after two months of waiting, I will be able to meet my friends and teachers. Besides, I will learn new things,” Linthoi, a class 1 student, was quoted as saying by PTI. She said that the closure of the school had made her life extremely boring and boring.

Many students said that the state government should take steps to ensure that schools remain open for at least a few hours daily even when the situation is tense.

Bhabesh Sharma, the father of a class 4 student, expressed hope that the situation would return to normal and the children would be protected by the government to continue with the classes. He said, “As a father, I have kept my fingers crossed. Education is important and I have every hope that peace will return to the state. He, however, said that the safety of the students remains his concern.

Laishram Ibochouba, the parent of a Class 5 boy, lauded the government’s decision to resume classes. “I hope the government will take security measures for the students in case of any untoward incident,” he added.
