    Weather update: School-colleges will remain closed in West Bengal, advice to be alert from heat wave, know the condition of your area

    Weather update: In the scorching heat, people who are suffering from heat stroke and hot winds are praying for relief from rain and heat. According to the forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there are chances of rain in Ladakh and Kerala.

    Schools and colleges will remain closed in West Bengal

    In view of the scorching heat in West Bengal, the government has given relief to the school-college children. All autonomous, state, central government-aided and private universities and affiliated colleges in the state will remain closed from April 17.

    Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts

    The West Bengal government has said that except in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, institutions will remain closed for a week due to the prevailing severe heat and heatwave conditions in the rest of the state.

    There is also a possibility of thunder with rain

    There has also been respite from the heat after rains were reported from many places in Northwest India. However, the temperature has reached 42 degrees in many places. There is a possibility of thunderstorm along with rain in many areas of Karnataka, Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab and Maharashtra.

    Chance of rain with strong winds in many areas

    There is a possibility of rain with strong wind in Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. There are chances of rain in parts of Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana as well. There can be respite from the heat after a shower of rain.

    Some areas of Odisha’s Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada to Ganjam in South Odisha are likely to get respite from the heat. The IMD forecast that there could be a chance of thunderstorms.

    Temperature is not normal in Kerala

    According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in Kerala may increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Thrissur and Palakkad districts recorded maximum temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius. Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kannur and Kozhikode districts recorded around 37 degrees Celsius.

    Mercury went above 40 in many areas

    The scorching heat in Kerala can also be gauged from the fact that the temperature is 2 to 4 degree Celsius above normal. Ernakulam is prominent among the districts with maximum temperature above 40°C.

    Rising temperatures in these areas

    Temperatures are also rising continuously in Kerala’s Koothattukulam, Chemperi and Irikkur in Kannur district, Kollancode in Palakkad district, Malampuzha Dam Mannarkkad, Ottapalam and Pothundi Dam and Thrissur district.
