Uproar in Madhepura’s JNKT Medical College: Patient’s relatives beat up doctors, work stalled

Doctors stopped work after the incident

A case has come to light of a doctor being treated at Madhepura’s JNKT Medical College being assaulted by youths who came to see the patient being treated on the adjacent bed. According to the information received, Gauri Kumari, a resident of Bihariganj Ward No. 5, was undergoing treatment related to kidney on bed number 103 of JNKT Medical College. The patient was being given CPR by Dr. Santosh Kumar. During the treatment, the family members accompanying the said patient refused to do CPR. Meanwhile, 3-4 youths who came to see Madhepura Ward No. 1 resident Sinku Kumar, who had overdosed of medicine on bed number 104, first asked the doctor to act properly. Meanwhile, as soon as no one could understand anything, the youths started beating the doctors with belts.

Patient of bed number 103 died

Doctors Dr. Santosh Kumar and Dr. Ravindra Kumar were injured in the fight by the youths. After this incident, the patient of bed number 103 lost his life due to getting entangled in the fight. After the said incident, the angry doctors stopped all other services including emergency and demanded the arrest of the youths who were fighting and to open a permanent police post in the medical college. Here, the young man undergoing treatment on bed number 104 has accused the doctors of assaulting him.

Principal told the incident shameful

Dr. Bhupendra Prasad, Principal of the Medical College said that the incident of assault on the doctors is very shameful. It is natural that it is impossible to function when the hospital personnel including doctors are unsafe. On the other hand, SI Yugal Kishore, who arrived from Singheshwar police station after getting information about the incident, said that as soon as the information about the incident of assault was received, an attempt was made to pacify the angry people by reaching the spot.
