UP News: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to start a state-wide campaign for the purity of food items in view of festivals. While reviewing the work of Food Safety and Drug Administration Department on Saturday, the Chief Minister also directed to maintain effective control over the manufacture, sale and distribution of substandard, spurious, adulterated or banned drugs.
Chief Minister Yogi said, “Under any condition, the manufacture, sale and distribution of substandard, spurious, adulterated or banned drugs should not take place in the state. Maintain effective control over such activities.” He said, “Adulteration is playing with the life of the common man. Adulteration will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
Immediate action should be taken on every complaint- CM Yogi
He said, “In view of the festival, the process of investigation of food items should be expedited. Every complaint of sale of adulterated food items should be acted upon immediately. State-wide inspection should be done as a mission.” The CM said that it is pleasant that the operation of mobile food testing laboratories has started at seven divisional headquarters in the past.
Accountability will be fixed in case of unnecessary delay- CM
He said, “Facility for analyzing drug samples has also started in Meerut, Gorakhpur and Agra. Similarly, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Basti, Moradabad, Jhansi, Saharanpur, Aligarh, Mirzapur, Bareilly, Azamgarh, Ayodhya And the construction of divisional laboratories in Devipatan mandal should be completed as soon as possible. Daily monitoring of these works should be done by posting a nodal officer at the district level. These are important projects related to wider public interest, accountability will be fixed in case of unnecessary delay. “
The Chief Minister said, “At present the analysis capacity of food laboratories in the state is 30,000 food samples per year. By increasing the number and capacity of laboratories, it should be increased to the capacity of more than 01 lakh samples. Similarly, the analysis capacity of pharmaceutical laboratories which That at present there is 10,000 drug samples per year, action should be taken to increase it to 50 thousand.
There should be no shortage of testing equipment in laboratories – CM Yogi
He said, “For capacity addition of state laboratories, it would be appropriate to take cooperation of CSIR, NBRI, IITR, CIMAP, DRDO and central laboratories/institutions. Get NABL certification of food laboratories in all divisions of the state.” CM Yogi said, “There should be no shortage of testing equipment in the laboratories. Their maintenance, validity period, functionality etc. should be tested according to the standards. New posts should also be created as per the requirement by reviewing the pharmaceutical and laboratory cadre.”
