Up News: For Urban Development, The Government Has Sought Proposals From The Bodies, All Bodies Should Provide Proposals To The Government By 20
Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
After the completion of the swearing-in proceedings of the newly elected mayors and chairpersons of the municipal bodies, the government is now engaged in the exercise of bringing the development of urban facilities back on track. For this, the Urban Development Department has called the first meeting of the board from all the municipal bodies and instructed them to approve the proposals related to the development of the cities and make them available to the government. The government has asked the bodies to provide body-wise proposals by July 20 under any circumstances.
In this regard, guidelines have been sent to all the Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers on behalf of Principal Secretary Urban Development Amrit Abhijat. In which instructions have been given to prepare important projects related to civic amenities and services as well as proposals related to the development of cities. The Principal Secretary has also asked to include projects related to AMRUT 02, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) 02, Mukhya Mantri Nagar Srijan Yojana, State Sector Schemes and National Clean Air Program in the proposal. The local bodies have been asked to make the annual action plan for the financial year 2023-24 available to the government after getting approval from the boards of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayats.
Apart from this, the Principal Secretary has also asked to make necessary provisions for drinking water system, solid and liquid waste management. He has said that estimating the amount to be made available as body share under these projects, it should be included in the income-expenditure of the financial year. The Principal Secretary has also asked all the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats to prepare an action plan to increase their income. Along with implementing corrective measures to increase income, instructions have also been given to use modern techniques to increase tax and non-tax collection. He has said that the rates of urban housing survey, user charges, license fee etc. should be revised.
Special focus on newly formed bodies
The Principal Secretary has also asked the mayors and presidents to pay special attention to the development of the newly formed and expanded bodies. He has said that the proposal to be prepared by the civic bodies must include the action plan related to essential facilities like sewer, roads, drinking water, toilets and street lighting, necessary for the citizens. Also asked to start the process of tree plantation in the rains. He has instructed the State Finance Commission to prepare separate proposals for the work to be done.
