In Bihar’s Vaishali, the driver of the truck which used to run over people performing puja on the roadside had consumed a glass of country liquor worth Rs 40. He himself disclosed this. According to truck driver Lalu Kumar, he used to drink country liquor in Jadua at the rate of Rs 40 per glass.
He told that he was taking a truck from Hajipur towards Mahanar. Earlier, he drank country liquor with some truck drivers in Jadua. Which was bought from Line Hotel for Rs.40 per glass. The accident happened while trying to overtake another truck. It may be known that liquor ban is in force in Bihar.
The medical report of the driver has come there. In the report, the medical officer has clearly written that the truck driver was drunk. He was so drunk that he could not walk on his feet. Dr. Manish Kumar Roshan, Medical Officer of Vaishali Sadar Hospital has told that the driver’s blood, urine and breath have been examined. Consumption of alcohol has been confirmed in all three. The driver carried out this major accident while intoxicated.

8 died on the spot in the accident. There are 6 children among those who died. There 30 people got injured. People told that if the tree was not there, more than 50 lives would have been lost. Anuj Kumar Rai, the eyewitness of this incident, tells that the worship was almost completed. Everyone was about to return to their respective homes when the truck going from Hajipur towards Mahnar ran over people and hit a tree.

Accident happened while worshiping Bhuiyan Baba
Neutan’s program was going on before the worship of Baba Bhuiyan in Vaishali. The people of the village were standing with branches near the Peepal tree on the side of the road. Children, elders and women were all involved in this. The worship started at 5.30 pm. It was about to end around 9 pm. Then a speeding truck came from Hajipur side and rammed into a tree crushing the people standing there. By the time people could recover, 8 died. 30 people were injured.
The people of the village have been worshiping Bhuiyan Baba for years. After the fulfillment of the wishes, people organize this puja according to their own free will. For years, Newton’s program has been happening near this tree. But such an accident had not happened till date.
After the accident, mourning spread in the entire village. Some lost their son and some lost their grandson.
Eye witness- granddaughter died in front of my eyes
Anuj Kumar Rai, the eyewitness of this incident, tells that the worship of Navatan was almost completed. Everyone was about to return to their respective homes when an uncontrolled truck going from Hajipur towards Mahnar went on crushing people. After this he collided with a Peepal tree. According to Anuj, if the truck had not hit the tree, at least more than 50 people would have died.
8-year-old Anushka also died in the accident. Anushka’s grandfather Rajkumar told that before the worship of Baba Bhuiyan, the program of Navatan was going on. The people of the village were standing with branches near the Peepal tree on the side of the road. Children, elders, women were all involved in this. The worship started at 5.30. It was about to end around 9 o’clock. Then the truck came and crushed the people standing here. Granddaughter died in front of my eyes.
What is the worship and worship of Bhuniya Baba?
The villagers told that Bhuniya Baba is being worshiped here for years. Earth is worshiped in the worship of Bhuniya Baba. According to the belief, the earth gave life to the people, it is the earth that sustains the life of the people. People are living by eating food, fruits and flowers grown from the earth itself. Even after death, people get absorbed in the soil. Overall, man remains attached to the earth from life till death. Hence the people of this village worship the earth i.e. Bhuiyan Baba.
Navatan means invitation. The evening before the worship of Bhuiyan Baba, there is a custom of inviting the earth. According to this practice, this puja was being done next to the Peepal tree next to the State Highway. Along with the people of the village, the children of the village were also watching this puja. The children were standing on the side of the road.
