The bridge built on Budhi Gandak river at Sahebpur Kamal in Begusarai has broken in the middle. On Sunday morning, the bridge broke down and got submerged in water. The work of this bridge was going on for 9 years. This bridge was not even inaugurated yet. It was built at a cost of 13 crores.
Two days ago on Thursday, a crack was seen between its pillar number 2-3. Since then its use was banned. And on Sunday it broke down and entered the river.

Ballia SDO Rohit Kumar, SDPO Kumar Veer Dhirendra, CO Satish Kumar Singh, CI Akhilesh Ram and the police team of the local police station had reached to take stock of the situation as soon as the information about the collapse of the bridge and crack in the guard was received. Immediately deploying watchmen on both sides of the bridge, along with barricading on both sides of the bridge, the operation of all types of vehicles was completely banned.
The local people believe that call it a coincidence that till now the operation of any heavy vehicle could not be started on it. Otherwise a major incident could not be ruled out. Rahua Panchayat chief Subodh Kumar Singh alias Munna Singh told that after a long standing demand of the people of Vishnupur Ahok, Rajauda, Govindpur, Khanradiara etc. villages including Ahok Ghat, construction of a bridge on this Gandak river in the year 2012-13. Approval was given. Maa Bhagwati Construction got the responsibility of its construction.
