    Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister affirms support for ceasefire efforts in Sudan

    PORT SUDAN-Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister, Eng. Walid Al-Khereiji, affirmed Saudi Arabia’s welcome and support for all UN and international efforts aimed to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Sudan.

    He also welcomed the humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Sudanese people, the combination of which would push towards completing what was reached in “Jeddah 1 and Jeddah 2,” according to a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

    This came while the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan, First Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, received in Port Sudan the Saudi Minister.

    During the reception, the Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed to Lt. Gen. Al-Burhan the greetings of Saudi leadership, stressing its keenness to restore security and stability to Sudan. This requires calm, wisdom, and self-restraint, keenness to resume negotiations, showing flexibility, and responding to positive and humanitarian initiatives.
