Saraswati Puja preparations in full swing in Banka: Sculptors are engaged in their ancestral business, thousands of idols are being prepared

Now only 13 days are left for the Basant Panchami festival. This year on January 26, Saraswati Puja and Republic Day will be celebrated together. Just before the Saraswati Puja, all the sculptors in Banka are busy making idols of Saraswati, the goddess of learning. Due to the bitter cold, the sculptor is facing difficulty in making the idol of Maa Saraswati. Despite this, various sculptors of the district are engaged in their ancestral jobs. Saraswati Puja is coming closer, similarly the hands of the sculptor are also moving at the same speed. The sculptor is expecting a good income this year. For the last two years, the sculptors had to face losses due to the Corona period.

The sculptor’s courtyard is full of sculptures these days. For their livelihood, the family is engaged day and night in ancestral work. The idol is almost ready in the field, only coloring is left. The price of the idol is fixed between 5000 to 15000 this year. This year the idols are being made of clay and decorated with natural colours.

Sculptor Amlesh Pandit said that 75 percent of the idol of Maa Saraswati has been prepared. After Corona, now there is some hope that there will be better business. At the same time, the sculptors tell that now the painting of the idol has to be done, the idol of Maa Saraswati will be ready before time. The booking of idols has been done since a month in advance. Rupesh Pandit told that earlier soil used to be easily available, whereas now soil also has to be bought. Not only this, they also have to spend a lot of money to collect all the resources from the color used in the idol. The profit that can be made in this is known whether it is enough to run the family or run it with difficulty.
