External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has arrived in Egypt and also met eminent personalities in the field of foreign policy to establish strong relations with Egypt. During this S Jaishankar also interacted with the Indian community in Egypt. During this, he talked about the medical hub in India and the work done during Corona.
He told the Indian community in Cairo that a major development in our trade relations is that Egypt has started importing wheat from India. The good thing about Egypt is that trade has been reasonably balanced from both sides. He further said that Egypt has expressed special interest in setting up a venture with an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology). And Jaishankar said that I will discuss this with my education minister in India.
S Jaishankar said this is today’s India
Talking to Indians in Egypt, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that we have done an unprecedented job of bringing Indians back home during Kovid. This is today’s India, which is capable of doing great things. Today it has been proved that it can meet the challenges. He further said that since Corona, he has been advancing health-related services. The health system is moving forward to cover lakhs of people in which crores of people have not taken advantage of it over the years.
India Health Center for many countries
Further S Jaishankar said that we are a health center for many countries. Not only people from neighboring countries but also the number of foreigners coming to India for treatment from Gulf, East-Africa, Central Asia is quite high. He further said that our reputation in the field of pharmacy has increased in the world.
S Jaishankar to meet Egyptian President
At the same time, the External Affairs Minister said that India and Egypt have good relations. The possibilities are high to explore it and there is enthusiasm in India. He will meet the Egyptian President tomorrow and reiterate Prime Minister Modi’s strong personal commitment to growing this relationship.
Jaishankar meets foreign policy scholars in Egypt
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met eminent scholars in the field of foreign policy in Egypt. His two-day visit is aimed at exploring new initiatives in India’s partnership with this African country. He is making this visit at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Hassan Shoukry.
Jaishankar tweeted, “My trip to Cairo has a great start. Met dignitaries from the foreign policy sector. He expressed his gratitude for his support for relations and insights with India in regional and world politics. During the visit to Egypt, Jaishankar and Shoukri are expected to hold detailed discussions on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Egypt is India’s largest trading partner in Africa and bilateral trade, commerce and investment will be given special attention during the visit. The two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations this year.
Tribute paid to Gandhi in Cairo Park
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on Saturday paid tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Al Horeya Park in Cairo. He said, Mahatma Gandhi’s message will continue to inspire the world to strive for justice and equality for all. The statue of Mahatma Gandhi was unveiled at this park in 2019 on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary.
