Ravan Dahan program completed in 20 minutes

In the historic Gandhi Maidan of Gaya, thousands of numbers of truth triumphed over untruth. Ravana was killed by Rama. The 50 feet effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran, symbolizing untruth, were burnt to ashes within 20 minutes. The effigies were filled with firecrackers. The entire Gandhi Maidan resonated with the sound of firecrackers and Jai Shri Ram. The monitoring of Ravan Dahan program itself was being done from the platform of SSP Dussehra Committee. On this occasion, city MLA Prem Kumar and his supporters were putting their full strength to settle the program peacefully. At the same time, the officers and workers of Dussehra Committee were ready on every front.

The program of Ravana Dahan was fixed at 4.30 pm. But Shri Ram’s army got a little late in reaching Gandhi Maidan. As soon as he arrived, the crowd of thousands present in Gandhi Maidan was filled with enthusiasm. The artists who came to Banaras in front of Shri Ram’s army were playing damaru. The sound of Damru was filling the people with great enthusiasm. The district administration and police were keeping an eye on the camera with drones on the entire program. Not only this, police personnel were also stationed armed with weapons on the roofs of nearby houses.

With the killing of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran, the police personnel started vacating the ground. At the same time, some devotees were jumping to collect the burnt part of Ravana’s effigy. The police were escaping them again and again. As soon as the program ended, thousands of people came out of Gandhi Maidan and took to the streets to visit the idols of Goddess Durga installed in different areas of the city. During this, there was a traffic jam on all the roads connecting to Gandhi Maidan.
